A climbing gym website where people can actually book online.
No more answering the same availability question by phone every evening. The timetable is yours, the booking too.
I opened 40 climbing gym websites, one by one.
Climbing walls and bouldering centres, across Spain, the UK and Ireland. Not a survey: 40 websites I opened myself, phone in hand, trying to book a climbing session the way any customer would on a Tuesday night.
No online booking at all
Just a phone number or a contact form. A wall fills up by time slot and capacity: if booking means a call during office hours, the customer tries the gym down the road instead, the one with a working button. On one wall's site, the Book Online button led straight to a 404.
The website looked abandoned
A footer still stuck in 2022, opening hours from two seasons ago, a price list that no longer applies. One site didn't mention a single price across four pages. For a place people trust with their safety, a neglected website plants doubt before anyone walks in.
Paying commission to an outside booking platform
The booking works, but it lives somewhere else: every pass or session pays a cut to a third-party platform, and the capacity and customer data aren't yours either. If the terms or the price change, you find out after it's done.
I count all 40, including the ones that were fine. Without them the numbers would lie. This sample comes from the same audit of small-business websites, opened one by one.
What a climbing gym website should have
None of this is exotic. It's what someone expects before booking a climbing session, and almost nobody has it.
-
01
Booking that actually works, not a button that leads nowhere
The customer picks a slot and pays or reserves it right there, on your site. No outside platform taking a cut of every pass: if you take payment online, I take 2.5% of what you charge. Keep a listing elsewhere if it brings you people, but stop being the gym where the booking button is broken.
-
02
Capacity control per time slot
Each session has a limit, and the site stops offering spots once it's full. No overbooking the wall, no two groups fighting over the same routes at the same time.
-
03
Instant confirmation for the session booked
The customer gets confirmation the moment they book. It's what cuts down the empty slots nobody flags until the day itself.
-
04
Real prices and hours on the site, not hidden behind a call
Day passes, memberships and gear hire, updated and readable on a phone. Not a PDF from two seasons ago, not a single page with no price on it at all.
-
05
Actual text about what people ask before they come
Whether a belay test is required, if gear hire is included, whether there are courses or just open access, how to get there and where to park. Written as text, not locked inside an image nobody can read on a phone.
What it costs
The same prices published on the pricing page. You choose how to pay: in instalments or all at once.
In instalments
105 € to start. After 24 months the 20 € for the site end and it's yours. The 9 € for hosting it and looking after it carry on by themselves: I'll let you know a month before, and you can cancel whenever you like. Taking it elsewhere, code included, is 50 €, once.
All at once
The whole site paid up front, and yours from day one. I host it and look after it with Web Segura, 9 €/mo, or you take it ready to host wherever you like, with no monthly fee.
So you can edit it
With your own panel: change texts, prices and photos without calling anyone.
Online booking
Calendar, confirmations and reminders. No separate setup fee. If you paid for the site all at once, it needs Web Segura maintenance, 9 €/mo.
All prices include VAT. In instalments, 24 payments and then only the 9 € for keeping it looked after; all at once, Web Segura at 9 €/mo or you take it with you, no monthly fee. If you take deposits online, I take 2.5% of what you charge.
How this works
- 01
You message me
Your website address and a couple of lines.
- 02
I'll tell you what's wrong
I open your site, look at it the way someone booking a climbing session would, and tell you what I'd do. No obligation.
- 03
Fixed price
In writing. If it doesn't work for you, you owe nothing.
What people usually ask me
Can I sell day passes and bookings on my own website?
Yes. The sale happens on your own site and the money goes into your account. If you take payment online, I take 2.5% of what you charge; if they pay on arrival, nothing. Keep a listing on other platforms if they bring you new people, but you stop depending on them to sell.
Can I cap how many people book a time slot?
Yes. You set the maximum per session and the site stops offering spots once it's full. No overbooking the wall, no two groups fighting over the same routes at the same time.
Does the booking system sync with the till or door control?
It can be linked to whatever you already use at the door, so a booked session gets validated automatically instead of being ticked off a list by hand. It's tested in front of you before anyone signs off on it.
What happens to customers' data?
Only the minimum gets collected: name, contact details and the session chosen. The data goes to your site and your inbox, not to a middleman platform, and the legal side is agreed in writing before we start.
Send me the address and I'll take a look.
I'll get back to you within 24 hours. If you'd rather call: 617 575 495.
